Monty
Monty was born in July 2016 and came to Tawnymeade Alpacas from Tattershall Farm Park after farm park life didn’t quite suit him. He needed a calmer, quieter setting, and since arriving at Tawnymeade he has completely transformed into a happy, confident alpaca who loves meeting visitors and going out on walks.
Although Monty may not be the most traditionally attractive alpaca due to previous mite damage, he more than makes up for it with his huge personality and expressive face. He is incredibly loving, curious, and wonderfully nosy, always wanting to be involved in whatever is happening around him. His gentle nature and funny character quickly make him a favourite with guests.
Basil
Basil is a handsome fawn and white alpaca, born just five days after Rascal in May 2018. With his beautiful colouring, he closely resembles the natural shades of wild vicuñas, giving him a very distinctive and striking appearance.
Basil has a slightly suspicious nature, much like his mother, and always seems to be on the lookout for the next “monster” hiding nearby. Despite his cautious personality, he is full of character and enjoys getting out on walks — especially when he can break into a little jog along the way.
Known for his wonderfully soft fleece and gentle temperament, Basil is also fantastic when visiting care homes, where his calm presence and curious personality bring smiles to everyone he meets.
Rascal
Rascal is a striking dark fawn Suri alpaca, born in May 2018, and holds a very special place at Tawnymeade Alpacas as the very first cria born under the Tawnymeade name. His mum is Dizzy and his dad is Rapper, which inspired his name — Rascal — after the musician Dizzee Rascal.
Full of personality, Rascal is incredibly friendly, curious, and always keen to know what’s going on around him. He loves meeting visitors and enjoys his walks, although he can sometimes set quite a fast pace when he gets excited. With his playful, nosy nature and eye-catching Suri fleece, Rascal always brings fun and energy to every alpaca experience.
Omar
Omar is a handsome black Huacaya alpaca, born in June 2014, with a calm and easy-going nature that makes him a favourite on walks. As a younger alpaca, Omar achieved Reserve Champion for fleece in 2016, showcasing his excellent quality and strong bloodlines.
Now a semi-retired stud male, Omar enjoys a more relaxed pace of life and loves meeting visitors during alpaca experiences. Known for being calm, cool, and laid-back, he is wonderful to walk and brings a gentle, steady presence to the group. With his relaxed personality and striking looks, Omar is a real character who visitors quickly fall in love with.
El Cid
El Cid is a stunning mid-brown alpaca, born in August 2012, with a luxurious soft fleece and a proud, striking presence. He originally arrived at Tawnymeade Alpacas as a stud male after being successfully shown and placed highly in competitions thanks to his excellent quality and fleece.
In his younger days, El Cid could be highly strung and often chased the black alpacas around the field, making him quite a character to manage. However, after a couple of years he was castrated, and the change in him was remarkable. He became calm, confident, and relaxed, allowing him to enjoy a completely new role walking with visitors.
Today, El Cid is a happy and confident walker who loves being part of the alpaca experiences. He often hums gently as he walks, adding to his calm and charming personality. With his beautiful presence and elegant fleece, he always stands out in the group. He is also the proud father of Cerberus, who many say is like a miniature version of him.
Cerberus
Cerberus is the youngest alpaca currently joining walks at Tawnymeade Alpacas, born in April 2024 and still very much in training. As he is still young and learning, he is only walked by confident handlers and is not used on experiences too often just yet.
His father is El Cid, and the resemblance between them is remarkable, with Cerberus inheriting the same striking looks and proud presence. Being such a young alpaca, he definitely has a bit of a teenage side to his personality — curious, energetic, and sometimes testing boundaries as he grows in confidence.
There were hopes that Cerberus would become a future stud male, but unfortunately he did not place as well as expected at shows. Even so, he remains a much-loved part of the herd, and visitors enjoy watching his personality develop as he matures into adult life.
