Booking Policy
If you have a date in mind for your visit, please contact us first to check availability for your chosen experience.
Once dates are confirmed, we will hold your booking for 24 hours.
Our alpaca walking experiences are £25 per person, with spectator places available for £8 per person. We can accommodate a maximum of 5 alpacas per walk to ensure a relaxed, personal, and educational experience for all guests.
If your group is larger than 5 walkers, additional guests are welcome to join as spectators or share alpacas where appropriate.
Our walks currently take place on Mondays, wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 1pm.
If you purchase an experience without booking a date, or buy a gift voucher, please contact us when you are ready to arrange your alpaca experience.
We are available via phone, email, or website chat.
As dates can book up quickly, especially during busy periods, we strongly recommend booking well in advance.

───

Children & Spectators
Children aged 12 and over may walk their own alpaca independently.
Children aged 8–12 must share an alpaca with a participating adult and are classed as 1 experience booking and 1 spectator booking.
Children under 8 are unable to walk an alpaca but are very welcome to attend as spectators alongside a responsible adult. Calm younger children may have the opportunity to help hold the lead rope alongside an adult during the walk.
Children aged 3 and under attend free of charge but must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
Babies may not be carried while walking an alpaca but may be carried by a spectator accompanying the walk.
Spectator spaces are only available alongside a booked alpaca experience, with a maximum of 2 spectators per experience booking.

───

Clothing & Footwear
Please remember that the walks take place outdoors on uneven farm ground which can sometimes be muddy or slippery depending on the weather. We strongly recommend wearing boots or old trainers suitable for walking across fields.
For health and safety reasons, flat closed-toe shoes must be worn. Guests wearing unsuitable footwear, including sandals or open-toe shoes, will unfortunately not be permitted to walk an alpaca.
As the fields are very open and can be windy, we recommend dressing appropriately for the weather and bringing waterproof clothing if rain is forecast.

───

Cancellations & Refunds
Unfortunately, refunds are not accepted.
We are happy to reschedule your booking when at least 1 week’s notice is provided before your experience date. Bookings may be rescheduled once per booking.
If less than 1 week’s notice is given, the booking will not be eligible for a date change.
Guests who do not attend without notice will lose their booking and will not be offered a alternative date.
In genuine emergencies, we will always try our best to help where possible.
All cancellations or date change requests must be made in writing to:
danielle@tawnymeade-alpacas.co.uk
Gift vouchers must be redeemed within 12 months of the purchase date.

───

Weather Policy
As this is an outdoor experience, walks are weather dependent. In cases of severe or unsafe weather conditions, we may need to cancel or rearrange your experience for the safety of both guests and alpacas.
If we need to cancel your walk, we will contact you between 9am and 10am on the morning of your booking using the contact details provided.
Since 2021, we have only had to cancel experiences 3 times.
Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided for cancellations due to circumstances outside of our control.

Terms & Conditions
• All alpaca walks are supervised by experienced handlers. Guests are not permitted to take alpacas away from the group or walk them unaccompanied.
• A health and safety briefing is provided before every walk. Guests who do not follow instructions may be asked to leave the experience without compensation.
• A maximum of 5 alpacas take part in each walk to maintain a calm, personal, and enjoyable experience.
• Alpacas are social animals and usually walk in pairs or groups.
• Hand washing facilities are available on site, and adults accompanying children are responsible for ensuring hands are washed after animal contact.
• Parking is available on site, however all vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk. Tawnymeade Alpacas accepts no responsibility for loss or damage.
• Toilet facilities are available on site but are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible due to steps and uneven ground.
• Our alpaca walks are not currently wheelchair friendly as the terrain is uneven and our alpacas are not trained to walk alongside wheelchairs. However, we do offer quieter meet-and-greet visits with selected alpacas for wheelchair users.
• Dogs are not permitted on site or left in vehicles during experiences.
• We do not recommend alpaca walking for guests over 7 months pregnant due to uneven ground and the unpredictable nature of animals. Spectator spaces are available for those who would still like to attend.
• Alpacas are gentle animals, but like all livestock they may occasionally spit, kick, or react unexpectedly if startled. Guests participate at their own risk.
• During experiences we take photographs which may be used on our website or social media pages. Please let us know before the walk if you would prefer not to be photographed. Photos taken during the experience will also be sent to guests via WhatsApp where possible.
• We try our best to keep to scheduled timings, however alpacas walk at their own pace. If you need to leave by a certain time, please let us know at the start of the experience.
